CDL Instructor โ€“ Full-Time or Part-Time

Pay Range: $20โ€“$26/hour
Locations: All Truck Master School campuses

Overview:

CDL Instructors at Truck Master School are the backbone of our training program. Instructors are not just teachingโ€”theyโ€™re leading, guiding, and mentoring future truck drivers from day one through graduation. This role requires strong communication, calm under pressure, and the ability to manage a wide range of responsibilitiesโ€”from hands-on training to coordinating vehicle maintenance and DMV readiness.

Weโ€™re looking for professionals who take pride in what they do, stay positive even when things get busy, and want to help others succeed while continuing to grow themselves.

Full-Time Instructor Schedule:

Mondayโ€“Friday: 9:00 AM โ€“ 6:00 PM
โ€ขSaturday: 9:00 AM โ€“ 2:00 PM
โ€ขFull-time presence and dependability required
Optional Night Shift (As-Needed Coverage):
โ€ข Mondayโ€“Wednesday & Thursday: 6:00 PM โ€“ 9:00 PM
โ€ข This schedule is covered by separate part-time instructors, but full-time team members may be asked to help cover when needed

Part-Time Night Instructor Option:

We are also accepting applications for dedicated night instructors to teach evening classes only. This is a great opportunity for part-time applicants.

Responsibilities:

โ€ขย  ย Train and supervise students in pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and road driving
โ€ขย  Monitor student progress and grade them before DMV testing
โ€ขย  Keep student DMV appointments on schedule and track pass/fail outcomes
โ€ขย  Use scheduling software and maintain student calendars
โ€ขย  Ensure trucks are fueled, washed, and ready for use daily
โ€ขย  Coordinate maintenance and repairs with mechanics proactively
โ€ขย  Keep truck maintenance logs and report issues promptly
โ€ขย  Maintain a clean, organized, and professional yard and vehicle area
โ€ขย  Manage and support groups of students while staying positive and clear
โ€ขย  Stay involved from start to graduationโ€”your goal is to help every student pass
โ€ขย  Lead with structure, safety, and professionalism every day
โ€ขย  Attend required training and stay up to date with regulations and industry updates
โ€ขย  Participate in continued education and obtain required certifications if not already held

Requirements:

โ€ขย  ย Class A CDL license (must have held for at least 2 years)
โ€ขย  Instructor certification preferredโ€”but not required to start
โ€ขย  Must be willing to obtain certification and complete any required courses while employed
โ€ขย  High school diploma or equivalent preferred
โ€ขย  Experience in training, mentorship, or leading teams is a plus
โ€ขย  Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus
